2014 Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 4
The long day… 15 games, was at the fields today for 15 hours… I’m tired… so just a quick post with the photo of the day…
Sports photographers refer to it as “jube”… or Jubilation… this is what it’s all about, how happy can you be to smack a home run!?!?!? You can always tell when the 12’s start their tournament, the balls go flying out of the park! Congrats on your home run!
2014 Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 3
Day three already! Rolling fast through the tournament… ALL DAY tomorrow at the park… 15 total games! There will also be a Challenger game on field 5… well worth taking a look at these kids… it’s truly one of those “for the love of the game” kinda things…
The Intermediate’s (50/70) kicked off tonight as well… Just two teams in that bracket (that’s one more than last year…), Carson and Centennial… Carson came back from a 3-1 deficit in the 7th inning to win 4-3… should be another great game tomorrow night on field 6.
Hope to see you out at the park!
Photo of the Day… I’d like to call this one player of the night really… South Tahoe shortstop Jaden made several plays tonight that helped his team eek out a 2-1 win in a VERY close and competitive game against Reno American.
2014 Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 2
Day Two and the competition is heating up! Some very very closely matched teams out there… Stop by and check out a game or two… or four… 🙂 It’s easy to do, depending on the day there are as many as four games playing at one time!
See you out at the ball fields!!
Photo of the Day! I can’t let this one go… the annual tournament ball on bat photo…
2014 Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 1
And we’re off…!! The first day of the Nevada District 1 Little League Tournament kicked off today! And like the past few years I’ll be posting a Photo of the Day! Tonight’s was a very simple one, not sure I even need to say much about it! Check it out!

Each night of the Tournament I will post a photo here as well as on Twitter and Google +… Sorry, won’t be posting to Facebook… If you’re the photo of the day, stop by our tent, we have a water bottle for you! See you out at the park!!

2014 NIAA State Track Meet @ Carson High
Photography is a very multifaceted hobby/profession/art… The 2014 NIAA State Track meet this weekend was an event that I went out to try a few things photographically as well as record some important events in the lives of some of these athletes… saw some broken State records… saw some real gut level performances of some kids that clearly wanted that impressive title… “State Champion”… There were a lot of impressive athletes to watch!
Track is very different than most of the other sports that I cover… it’s all about you, the athlete, putting your very best out yet right next to you is the next guy/gal also trying to do the same, who’s the fastest today? Gotta love competition!
So here are some photos that I shot… Congratulations to all the athletes for making “the big game”… I hope our time in Carson for this great event was enjoyable and fruitful for your athletic careers!
Friday “night” this was our sky… cleared up a lot for Saturday but the clouds gave us a nice show and kept the temperature down a bit on Friday…
Carson Freshman Valerie Meyer starting in the 400m. … this was the STATE meet… looking forward to seeing her compete for the next few years! She’s also a great soccer player for Carson High.
Here’s some of that photographic “trial”… slow the shutter speed and pan with the action…
I’m gonna call him Mr. Carson High Track… Corey Reid competing in the high jump…
This was a great thing to witness… Randal Cunningham, Jr. was attempting to set a new national mark at 7 feet, 2 ½ inches… he already had won the State Championship but was pushing for more! His sister also won the State Championship… you would think it’s in the blood or something… 😉
Mr. Carson High Track again… here’s the start…
… and the finish… Corey squeaked out a 0.02 second win this time… The Regional final went to the thousands of a second… State Champion Corey Reid! Bet that feels great! … and a shout out to Josie Daggs in the background cheering!
Southern Nevada Centennial’s Tiana Bonds easily striding to her State Championship in the 300m hurdles…
2014 Carson Douglas Baseball…
Rivalry games are always entertaining… Darrell called the second of the two games “chippy”… to say the least…I don’t like to be too cliché-ish… but last night, the second of the two games, was very surreal to me… As many know, I was a soccer player… and while I’m learning, the small idiosyncrasies of baseball still fascinate me…. I explained what happened last night to my dad as the type of thing that Disney puts into a animated movie for parents and kids never understand or in some cases even see them until they’re older…. it’s an atmosphere that I can just try to soak in all the new knowledge of the game….
In case you missed it… here’s 4 ½ innings in under two minutes, the GoPro battery didn’t make it the whole game… 🙂
I also shot stills… not a lot, but some… Here are a few from the night… and I’ll tell you right now, it’s my blog and I’m gonna get a little sentimental here today…. 🙂
It was Senior night Wednesday at Douglas and Thursday at Carson (see Ron’s Photos for the DHS Senior Night Photos…). Most of these guys don’t know this but I first started shooting these fellas back in 2007… (you don’t believe me… how about Danny Guthrie 2007, Carson American… here… and there’s more on the site… Hey, Jace, TJ’s trying to copy your hair style from 2007… here ) 🙂 To say it’s been journey, is an understatement. I wish you all the very very best.
This photo… I just liked the way this one turned out… kind of a gritty-ness to it… love that the trees in the back have all filled out, helps those backgrounds. … and I also want to give a special shout out to Dustin… Dustin, in my mind, you’re THE team guy this year. You were always encouraging your team, cheering, you’re fun to be around in the dugout, and even though you played an important roll on the mound, your persona in the dugout will be what I will always remember about you, it’s a very important part of a team… thank you for that! I know you felt you had a rough night last night… but that’s what a TEAM sport is about… your guys pulled it together and put one in the win column on a very special night for you fellas.
When it’s Carson Douglas… Just KNOW that this guy is probably up to something… 🙂
The play that would send a Carson coach packing… if you want to see the entire play from where I was… it’s HERE… Here are three shots… no way of seeing the plate from my angle… TJ was up to bat (leftie… thus why I’m where I am…)…
The umpire felt strongly… apparently…
uh oh… this can’t be good… 🙂 Guess not everyone shared the opinion of the umpire…
… and I’m going to end kinda where I started above… with a walk down memory lane. While the season isn’t quite over (playoffs start next Tuesday), a new face (to some…) has emerged in the last two games for Carson High. I’ve known him for years… remember those photos from above, same stuff, different year… I know he’ll be a good sport about this… and I look forward to the next three years photographing him pitching for Carson High. Welcome to Varsity Bryce!
Know this kid? Carson City 9-10 All Star @ Governor’s Field during the 2009 Nevada District 1 All Star Tournament.
2014 CHS Softball Senior Night…
So, I thought I’d try something different… 🙂 Some of these girls I’ve been shooting for a long time… Congrats ladies, just a few more school days and you’re off into the “real world”. Stop by and say Hi sometime! I wish you all the very very best, it’s always been fun hanging out in the dugout with you!
2014 NIAA Northern Region Division 1 Baseball, Manogue vs. Carson High at Manogue
It’s my first baseball post of the season and we only have one more week in the regular season… Life and business are keeping me a bit more busy than I can really handle right now… the alternative is far worse so I can’t complain…. Stay tuned for some “advancements” coming soon… 🙂
So, I made the trek to Manogue today, one of the Manogue fellas was asking about who/what I was shooting for… this is the fifth season I’ve been making the trip up to Manogue for this series… hard to believe that! Looking back at the first year and comparing those to today’s photos… my has a lot changed in equipment…!
On to the photos… Manogue won today… 10-0 in 4 ½ innings…
No MLB Replay needed here, the umpire got this one right… good call Blue!
This was the first game I’ve seen Chase pitch… the “light” on the pitchers at the Manogue field is quite nice… nearly complete front light…
I promise, he’s not really this mean looking normally… I just had to post this one… the look on his face is pretty intense!
That is not Photoshop dirt… 🙂
Dom was waiting for the runner to arrive on this one…
Joe’s throw to Josiah… see what happened next with the next image…
Josiah in a rundown back to first… runner out!
Got some OK ball shots today!
Here’s that front light again… nearly no shadows, great stuff… photo geeky stuff, but…
Welcome back to the Mound Jace! His first pitches of the season.
You have to watch out Megan… that shutter can click off a few shots pretty quick! You’re a great sport about it too!
