Just one game tonight… lots of runs, very close finish… looked like it was going to possibly be a quick one… but Reno American came back and won it by one run! Photo of the day, something a little different… there are hits and home runs and pitching on the site from tonight… this one just makes me smile…
Nevada District 1 All Stars… Day 11

Nevada District 1 All Stars… Day 10
Big night… I’ve got three photos and four “recipients” of the Photo of the Day awards…
First… take a look at this photo… look where the ball is… Sometimes you get it just right… that throw was right in the path of the runner… who knows how what might have happened if this throw was off just a little bit… Catcher (obviously not pictured…), GREAT throw, bring your shortstop by for a Photo of the Day prize!
Two more… both from the Wahoe team… two dingers tonight (there were more, I just didn’t get the ball in the frame with those… 🙂 ) You can JUST see the ball in the second one leaving the frame… I left off the vingette so it shows up…! Great job fellas! Stop by our tent for your Photo of the Day prize!
Nevada District 1 All Stars… Day 9… Championship Day
Nevada District 1 All Stars… Day 8
The Photographer, the ball magnet…
OK… so to the untrained eye this photo looks like I kept a photo of a kid taking a strike… to the UNtrained eye… Let me explain a few things… look closely at the ball… See how blurry it is compared to the player… this is shot as the sunlight was leaving us and darkness was setting in… so that means that I’m shooting with a setup that allows for low light situations and limits the “reach” I have… but what it also gives me is a very shallow depth of field… a shallow depth of field means that stuff that is either in front of or further away from the focal point will be blurred… so in this case… that ball is… well, HEADING RIGHT FOR MY HEAD… for those of you at that game during that inning and 1/2 got to witness me nearly getting hit THREE times…!!! I’ve been hit two times in my years photographing baseball… and nearly got hit three times in an inning and 1/2 by three different kids!!! This photo was the first… and this foul ball off the bat actually hit the lens hood on the end of my lens… that was close to the old noggin’!!
So… although it appears this is a swing and a miss… it was actually a very near miss… of my head! 🙂 Stop by and get your photo of the day prize at our event tent…. I promise I won’t retaliate! 🙂
Nevada District 1 All Stars… Day 7
To me, tonight… this photo sums up what it’s all about… having fun playing ball at the park. I know someday some of these players will look back at these games, places, etc. and have some great memories of their time… So… the photo of the day, just a simple one, but it says a lot to me…
See you out at the fields! I know you might not be back… but if you do make it back, stop by and pick up your “photo of the day” gift. See you out at the fields!
Nevada District 1 All Stars… Day 6
Some heartbreaker games tonight… 6th inning come from behind kinda deals… teams going home, tournament over… teams going on, happy happy! Tomorrow the 12’s are back in full swing with four games… come on out and watch the games! Two days away from Championship Day for the 9-10’s and 10-11’s!
The photo of the day… I know RC is now out… but if you’re down supporting your 12’s team… stop by for your free gift….
Nevada District 1 All Stars… Day 5
Straight to the photo of the day… not a spectacular catch or anything… more of a call out to a remarkable performance… This fella from South Tahoe was as his coach put it… “dialed in” last night, the other coaches were even talking about him… first he was shortstop making plays… then moved to pitcher and more or less shut the other team down only giving up a few runs… so why the photo of him batting you ask? ‘Cause he hit two, two run homers at back to back at-bats facing two different pitcher and helped lift the team to an eventual win. A great performance! Stop by our event tent and see us for your “photo of the day” gift, a job well done!!
NV District 1 All Stars… Day 4
Another celebration…! and… well… for the shot that I missed… and as I explained to a parent, if I could tell you that the first baseman would jump as high as he could to snag a hard hit shot over his head and ALSO catch the runner on first not tagging up to get a double play ALONE (!!!!)… well I love what I do but if I was that good, I’d be rich! 🙂
So, yeah, this crack off the bat goes ripping, what looked like over the first baseman’s head, he jumps up, snags it and sprints to first to record the double play… the crowd gave me a hard time for missing the shot… 🙂 Did I mention these tournaments are fun? 🙂 GREAT play #5!!! Stop by our tent and pick up your “photo of the day” water bottle!
See all of you out at the park!
NV District 1 All Stars… Day 3
