Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 1

We’re off and off with a BANG!  There were some GREAT games Wednesday night!  Carson and Reno American 10’s even went extra innings!  Check out more here or at the link under current events or under photo galleries…

Here’s the “Photo of the Day” for Day 1 of the tournament, something a little different… The Truckee shortstop caught the throw from the catcher and was set to tag the runner… but the runner stopped and tried to make his way back to first… the runner slipped a bit which made the tag easier for the shortstop but still a fun play to watch (see the entire play in the Truckee gallery…).  Stop by our tent for your “gift”… 🙂130626_Truckee Little League_NV District 1 All Star_POD

2013 Capital Qualifier Softball Tournament, Carson City, NV

Summer Softball… fun and games, right?  Contrary to what you might see in some of the photos here on the site (… I caught the more often than not… smile! 🙂 ) these gals are all about the business of softball!  Fun fun FUN to watch and photograph for sure… a long weekend for us, no doubt!

Here are just a few shots from the weekend in Carson City, NV this past weekend, (June 22nd and 23rd) at the Edmonds Sports Complex… check out the Softball links on the site to see more!120622_Dynomite_softball photo_smiles 120622_Predators_softball photo_Catch the ball 120622_Predators_softball photo_Catcher 120622_Reno Fastpitch_softball photo_hit the ball 120622_Reno Fastpitch_softball photo_OUT 120622_Sharks_softball photo_Flying Pitcher

2013 NIAA Northern Region Division 1 Playoff Baseball… Galena vs. Carson

The weather has finally come and dropped a bunch of water on the high school baseball tournament fields in Northern Nevada… which caused some creative scheduling with today’s games, several having to be moved due to unplayable conditions… tonight Galena hosted Carson at Carson’s Ron McNutt field (for those of you that don’t know… Coach McNutt is now coaching at Galena… so a bit of a homecoming for Coach McNutt…)

Galena ended their season in a four way tie for second place with a 16-6 record and entered the playoffs, due to the tie-break system in the 5th spot.  Carson ended in 8th with a 7-15 record.  Tonight’s game went to Galena who will face Spanish Springs tomorrow in the next round of the playoffs… Check out the NIAA Site for the full bracket….

Something a little different tonight… I’ve been learning about time lapse photography and thought I’d give it a try… this is a 1:43 “movie” from the warmups and the entire game tonight… I’ve gotta do some more research regarding the players… but the sky is quite cool until it gets dark… then it’s just… well… dark 🙂

And here are some additional shots from the night… no particular order… 🙂  There are many many more in the galleries from the season.  Please contact me with any questions regarding the galleries.  Thanks fellas for another season!

… and the season rolls on…

Hey everyone,

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted… I just want you to know that I’m still shooting and still posting to the galleries, just busy with league work and trying keep up with some sleep… 🙂

Just wanted to post one photo today about something that happened yesterday at the Carson High… Yesterday was a busy night at CHS. It was Senior Night, Sponsor Night… and we had a first pitch by a young fella named Jayden.  Jayden was a visitor with the Make a Wish Foundation.  I don’t know Jayden’s story but the way his face lighted up being around the fellas….130501_Carson High Make a Wish Jayden

2013 Carson Douglas High School Baseball… mid season tournament

It’s “mid season” time… Spring Break… well… if you’re Washoe County… Carson and Douglas had their Spring Break last week… So goes the majority, so goes the schedule… Spanish Springs is hosting a Spring Break Tournament this week… Day One, originally scheduled for Monday got pushed out 24 hours due to the snow on the fields (thank you!)… Play resumed Tuesday afternoon/evening at Carson High and Spanish Springs….

Carson hosted Douglas for the first game at Carson High… Here are a few shots from the game… I tried something “new”… not sure what I think… I’m not sure if many of you caught the photo that the Nevada Appeal ran awhile back of Tim Lincecum of the SF Giants… this is the same “technique”… if you can call it that… NO Photoshop here, absolutely NONE, this is all in camera… This done in Photoshop would appear much different, less “ghosting” for lack of a better term… (Check out Custom Collages to see an example of that… click here scroll to the bottom…).  It’s something different… I’m gonna continue playing with it… I have some ideas on how to use it a little differently that may give me better results… Stay tuned!

2013 Galena High Baseball vs. Douglas

I’m back posting to the blog! 🙂  Been out to games lately (adding to the galleries…) but just not posting to the blog, I’ve been working on a project for our old time studio in Monterey, CA (Doc Wenzel’s Old Time Portraits) that consumed a lot of time last week… just “implemented” it on Monday this week….

I made the trek up to Galena today to shoot the Galena Douglas game… and just as I figured it was a great game!  This was the second Galena game I’ve been to which ended with a walk off home run to end the game… there’s more to the story though… it’s been the same player in both games…!  This time I got it! 🙂 Go Ben!

SUPER windy & rainy… that’s the beauty of baseball photos, you can’t really tell that, they wear caps! Also with a little overcast the harsh shadows on the faces go away… makes for “better” lighting, even though it was a “yucky” day there’s “better” light so possibly “better” photos…

Here’s some action from the day…

Douglas catcher Caleb Foster ready to make the throw to first for an out….

I wonder what Coach McNutt said to Ben Barnard… must have been good…130404_Galena_instaimage_Baseball_Home Run talk… it lead to this…130404_Galena_instaimage_Baseball_Home Run… which lead to this!  Great shot Ben!130404_Galena_instaimage_Baseball_Home Run Celebration
