A tough pill to swallow tonight for the Senators… I’ve never actually seen a texas shootout but points were adding up on the scoreboard tonight by both teams and a 4th quarter battle down to the wire saw Reed squeaking out a win at Carson High 47-41 with a touchdown in the final seconds.
Abel Carter again for Carson led the charge with some monster yardage tonight, his first two carries alone amounted to over 80 yards, he even passed to quarterback Jace Keema for a touchdown…
Here are some images from the night.

Spencer Rogers running the ball, Spencer had a busy night…
Luke Meyers with a long reception from Jace Keema…
Spencer Rogers with an interception
The Carson High Students… Toga, Toga, Toga!
And the Reed Raiders… they’re likely still the team to beat this year in the North State or so say the “media”… I think we’re likely to see a strong run by Carson after tonight’s shootout!
Could you call this a dream weekend for Carson High? Friday you get to hear legendary NFL player Kurt Warner talk and then you go head to head with his son and (and Dad too as he’s the offensive coordinator…) on your home field and come away with a 49-42 win in front of a good sized Carson Hometown crowd? That’s pretty special!
The Senators hosted Desert Mountain High from Scottsdale, AZ for their opening home game and there was no lack of “entertainment”… 🙂
The Senators came away with a 49-42 win over the Wolves in what can really be described as an Abel Carter show… Desert Mountain simply had nothing to stop him! Six touchdowns, two on pick-six scores that really took the wind out of the Arizona team’s sails…
What a way to start the season!! Here are some photos of the evening.
I know there’s a lot of video shared and consumed in football but you still never really know until you step on the field and are toe to toe with your opponent… last night was no different… Here’s Desert Mountain’s Quarterback Austin Neussle looking for his target early in the first quarter. (photo geek stuff… you have to love that beautiful light from the sun lighting his face, great stuff, kinda rare in varsity football with normal 7:00 PM starts…)
Legendary NFL Quarterback Kurt Warner assessing Carson’s defense before calling in a play early in the first quarter.
Brandon Gagnon picks off Desert Mountain’s pass…
Not even a flat tire (check the shoes…) can stop Abel Carter… (photo note here… see that shadow in the background? got SUPER lucky that the sun was still on Abel’s upper body here. The press box is the culprit for creating that shadow on the field and it’s a disaster for photos while that shadow creeps across the field… 7 PM game times eliminate that shadow problem 🙂 )
This photo pretty much sums up Desert Mountain’s night against Abel Carter… they’re going the other direction… Congrats Abel on a super night!
Just a single shot from today’s game… Spanish Springs squeaked out a bottom of the seventh run to win 1-0 today against the Senators… kind of a frustrating day for me today shooting… not my favorite place to shoot, no good places to shoot from really… you’d think that would be different given that it’s the place where the Aces want to be “seen”…
It’s good to be back at Carson High! That sounds kinda strange but it’s been some time since the last home football game in November… and while I’ve been at the school to take team photos, it’s nice to be back seeing some action! 🙂
The Boys haven’t had many home games yet this year due to some… well, I’ll call it “creative scheduling”… but they’re on a roll this year and they’re fun to watch, they play hard and last night, although the score seemed a little lopsided, they kept the pressure on and wouldn’t let McQueen get any taste of making a run… it was a very pleasant surprise to come back to!
A quick shout out to Kyle, nice job on your “estimate”, I’ll give you the one point! 🙂
Here are some images from the evening. If you can get out to some games, I’d highly recommend it, this is a fun team to watch!! They play the rest of their home games on Tuesdays for the balance of the season… Damonte, Galena, Douglas, Wooster, Manogue (those are the next five Tuesday’s in order…)… Hope to see you out at a game!
What a beautiful day for soccer! The weather was perfect, the pitch was in good condition the crowds came out for the games, what a great atmosphere!
In the Girls match had the Arbor View Aggies against the Coronado Cougars. The Arbor View Aggies were going for their fourth straight state title… they had already put up seven goals against the Northern Region Champion Bishop Manogue in the state semifinal round and wasted no time getting to work attacking against the Cougars… in the end the relentless attack of the Aggies proved to be too much for the Cougars and walked away with a 2-0 win to give them their fourth Nevada State Championship in a row. Here are some shots from their game.
The Nevada State Division 1 Champion Arbor View Aggies!
The Boys game saw a rematch of the Northern Region Championship… and the game ended in the same score for the same team, the Carson Senators defeated the Wooster Colts 2-1 with an golden goal overtime goal to grab the Nevada State Championship!
Anytime these two teams meet it’s all all out battle and Saturday’s game was no different. Overall I’d say it was well played… could have done without some of the “chippy-ness” but that can come easily in big games…
