As I posted on Facebook (www.facebook.com/instaimage)… I’m struggling a bit with shooting volleyball. I’m starting to get stuff I like but there are bodies flying around everywhere getting in my shots and… in football and baseball we call it getting “umped”… the umpire runs right into your frame and messes it all up… well there’s a lot of bodies everywhere, no matter where you shoot from… so it’s been a fun challenge. More to come on Thursday.

More soccer shots… with the 300 2.8
Here are some of the last images using the 300 2.8/f lens… I’ve enjoyed working with it and have gotten some great images with it! It’s been a struggle working with it because it’s SO different than what I typically use… but the depth of field is fantastic but I really like shallow depth of field photography… A lens like this also really shows off how good the new cameras are at very high ISO settings, the two night shots are at 6400 ISO at Douglas High’s Big George Complex!
Carson High Soccer
Some shots from the Carson High Soccer games today… some shot with a 300 2.8 Lens I have on loan from Canon. It was a frustrating day of shooting with the lens, I’m used to MY equipment, trying something new and very different took some adaptation… I did get some GREAT images with the lens! The bokeh the lens gives is fantastic, the short depth of field is amazing…!!! Enjoy!
Carson Homecoming Domination…
52 points in the first half, the offense converted, the defense got the ball back with great field position, special teams converted when asked… just a Carson night!
Here’s a photo of Danny Gall, the center, always mixing it up in there, tough to get a good photo of the center!
And one of the Cheer Squad, ran into the Cheer Coach at the Post Office before the game, fun week for all the Carson High students…

What a night for rivalry football!!
Even if you don’t like football, last night’s Carson Douglas Varsity football game was a great one! Carson squeaked out a win in overtime to beat Douglas 16-13 on a field goal by Austin Pacheco (who was three for three last night). Last night was all about beating the rival, the crowds were into the game, the players were pumped up, the coaches were anxious… what an electric atmosphere to play in! Standing for the National Anthem brought back memories of playing for SJSU in Spartan Stadium… it doesn’t get any better than that!
I’m also very pleased with the images I came away with! Got a couple of really great shots from the night, will make some great memories… I’m glad I’m able to be a part of all of this… that’s one of the reasons I spend the hours out there right!
… it’s … but I liked it…
If you follow our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/instaimage) you’ll see this photo as well… but I can only say so much there…
9,999 out of 10,000 I would delete this photo. There’s no ball… but I love the intensity in their faces and I love the space between the players… and the blurred players in the background… This captures the “man v man” aspect of football, you can just see them both thinking, both anticipating the next “move”… I’m getting the heck out of the way is what I’m doing!
More to follow tonight. Carson vs. Douglas Varsity Football.
I’ll also be on twitter with score updates if you’re interested… www.twitter.com/instaimage
Carson High undefeated!!
The first half was pretty quiet on the Carson side… but the second half, the coaches made adjustments, the boys brought “it” back to the field and put on an impressive show on both sides of the ball. They wore down the Manogue Miners and brought home an important win for the season. Next week the Senators head to Douglas which regardless of records is always a tough rivalry.
