Congratulations to the Washoe Little League 9-10 Year Old All Stars and the Centennial Little League 10-11 Year Old All Stars! These two teams will represent Nevada’s District 1 at the State Tournament!! Good luck!
Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 8
Whew, tonight is over! This is our seventh year doing either the Renegade/Hooligan Tournament (2008, 2012) or the All Star Tournament (2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013) and this is the first year we’ve had an official lightning delay! Fires popping up on the foothills around us tonight as the weather put on a light and sound show…. This of course pushed the evening very late… so just a quick post here….
Here’s the Photo of the Day, I can’t pass this one up, this was a game changing homer… South Tahoe’s 12’s team went into the top of the 7th inning tied 2-2 with Carson Valley… this homer and the next batter’s homer changed EVERYTHING at the field, it really deflated the Carson Valley team….
Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 7
The Championships for the 9/10’s and the 10/11’s have been set! Congratulations to all the players, coaches, parents and leagues!
Washoe will face South Tahoe for the 9/10’s Friday night @ 5:30
Centennial will face Reno National for the 10/11’s Friday Night @ 8:00
… back to tonight… some tough games tonight and some great play! Here’s the Photo of the Day… from a tough game and a ride into the Championship, this South Tahoe player received the ball from the catcher and tagged the baserunner. Stop by our booth for your prize!
Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 6
Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 5
You can always tell when the 12 year old start playing… the number of ball flying over the outfield fence increases significantly! There was a home run love fest today! I’m running around like a crazy man but I think I witnessed six home runs tonight, nearly got hit by the ball flying from field 2 to field 4 where I was shooting…!!!
So… for the Photo of the Day today… a home run swing…!
Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 3 & 4
Friday night was a long one (delayed game because of an extra inning game that eventually was moved to an open field…) followed by an early morning on Saturday (today…) so no update occurred last night… 🙂
The first Saturday of the All Star Tournament is always a long one! 14 games today! So I’m BEAT… but wanted to post two “Photo of the Day” winners! We’re back out tomorrow for three time slots, 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30. We’re now in full swing, all three age divisions are playing…
These photos are just simply because I like them! 🙂 This first one, I love the lighting, this field is a HUGE pain for trying to shoot on at certain times, this photo defies that… I really like how the sun is lighting him…This was a strange play, well, strange to me… there was a hubbub about a rule about… I love his expression toward the umpire! These little things are what I love about sports, those moments of joy for the game… 🙂
Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 2
Another great night of baseball at Governor’s Field in Carson City, NV! The weather’s been hot and apparently supposed to get even hotter over the weekend… yikes!
Photo of the Day tonight was easy… we can also play “you make the call”! Was the ball or the runner’s foot there first? 🙂 There was a fantastic sky out to the southwest tonight… I’ve already seen several shots from around Carson City, what a sight!
Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 1
We’re off and off with a BANG! There were some GREAT games Wednesday night! Carson and Reno American 10’s even went extra innings! Check out more here or at the link under current events or under photo galleries…
Here’s the “Photo of the Day” for Day 1 of the tournament, something a little different… The Truckee shortstop caught the throw from the catcher and was set to tag the runner… but the runner stopped and tried to make his way back to first… the runner slipped a bit which made the tag easier for the shortstop but still a fun play to watch (see the entire play in the Truckee gallery…). Stop by our tent for your “gift”… 🙂
2013 Capital Qualifier Softball Tournament, Carson City, NV
Summer Softball… fun and games, right? Contrary to what you might see in some of the photos here on the site (… I caught the more often than not… smile! 🙂 ) these gals are all about the business of softball! Fun fun FUN to watch and photograph for sure… a long weekend for us, no doubt!
Here are just a few shots from the weekend in Carson City, NV this past weekend, (June 22nd and 23rd) at the Edmonds Sports Complex… check out the Softball links on the site to see more!
2013 NIAA Northern Region Division 1 Playoff Baseball… Galena vs. Carson
The weather has finally come and dropped a bunch of water on the high school baseball tournament fields in Northern Nevada… which caused some creative scheduling with today’s games, several having to be moved due to unplayable conditions… tonight Galena hosted Carson at Carson’s Ron McNutt field (for those of you that don’t know… Coach McNutt is now coaching at Galena… so a bit of a homecoming for Coach McNutt…)
Galena ended their season in a four way tie for second place with a 16-6 record and entered the playoffs, due to the tie-break system in the 5th spot. Carson ended in 8th with a 7-15 record. Tonight’s game went to Galena who will face Spanish Springs tomorrow in the next round of the playoffs… Check out the NIAA Site for the full bracket….
Something a little different tonight… I’ve been learning about time lapse photography and thought I’d give it a try… this is a 1:43 “movie” from the warmups and the entire game tonight… I’ve gotta do some more research regarding the players… but the sky is quite cool until it gets dark… then it’s just… well… dark 🙂
And here are some additional shots from the night… no particular order… 🙂 There are many many more in the galleries from the season. Please contact me with any questions regarding the galleries. Thanks fellas for another season!
