Out of the blue about a week ago I was asked by 27OutsBaseball.com to shoot the Reno Aces… we’re very late in the season so I’m only able to get to one game, here are some shots from last nights game. Reno battled back from being down to win 6-5. The five game series continues with a double header on Saturday and a game Sunday and Monday… and the Aces are having fireworks after! They put on a good fireworks show!!

2015 NIAA Northern Region Football, Carson vs. Reed at Mackay Stadium
The 2015 Northern Nevada High School Football Season has begun! Tonight Carson and Reed had the privilege of playing under the lights at Mackay Stadium on the University of Nevada, Reno campus… (more on this later…).
Reed took things straight to Carson and racked up a good number of points in a very short period and easily defeated the Senators 44-27.
Here are some photos from the night.
The Carson High Navy Jr. ROTC Color Guard before tonight’s game!
A beautiful big full moon over the stadium tonight!
Mr. Denn took to the sky ALL night to night with a lot of passes, much more than I’m used to seeing at the high school level… Reed is going to score a lot of points this year… likely in preparation for meeting Bishop Gorman again in the State Championship again….
This was not a common sight tonight… Reed running the ball….
Just like this shot so I had to put it in… bodies flying….
As nice as it was for the fellas to be able to play under the lights in Mackay Stadium… that was ALL they got to do… they couldn’t even go in the locker rooms at half time… kinda tacky UNR… not exactly the way to show potential future players what your program has to offer… I’m 100% positive if any of them go on a recruiting trip ANYWHERE they’ll at least be shown the locker room….

Here’s a shot from the day… good to be back shooting this event, we tried to schedule around it last year but ended up scheduling over it instead… it’s nice to be back and see so many familiar faces!
2015 Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 16, Champions Crowned
2015 Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 15
The Championship is set! Centennial will play Reno American for the Junior Little League All Star Championship on Saturday night at Governor’s field in Carson City, NV.
The Photo of the Day… something a little more “fun” tonight… I get to see a lot of balls go by batters… makes for a lot of deleted photos… but sometimes you get one like this… Just makes me smile, what’s going through his mind right at this split second? 🙂
2015 Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 14
And now we’re down to three… Truckee defeated North Tahoe today and will play Reno American tomorrow as the loser’s bracket semi-final. Centennial will play the winner on Saturday for the Championship. Game time tomorrow is 6:30 PM. The Championship on Saturday is at 7:00 PM.
The Photo of the Day… some stuff you know is happening but you just can’t see it… this pitcher picked off at least one first base runner with only this little glance to check the runner at 1st. 🙂
2015 Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 13
And then there were four… two teams exited the tournament Wednesday night… Carson City lost a close error filled game against Truckee and Reno National lost to North Tahoe. This puts North Tahoe playing Truckee and Reno American will play Centennial (winner’s bracket) on Thursday.
Photo of the Day… sometimes you are “over lensed”, meaning I’m too close to get the entire piece of action… with the larger junior fields (high school and up as well…) I shoot with a larger lens than when I shoot Little League… and when the action happens you have to decide if you’re going to try to shoot or not… here’s an example, I pushed the shutter button and hoped I got something… 🙂
2015 Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 12
The weather would lead you to believe there are no games going on… but the evenings have been great for shooting because the sky is a great big soft pillow of light and there haven’t been any harsh shadows on the faces… this is great for photos!! 🙂
The Photo of the Day… the slides have been popping up the bags pretty regularly… something I’m not used to seeing at either the Little League or High School levels…
2015 Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 11
And the tournament goes on! Now the Junior division will play all this week at Governor’s Fields 1 and 6. Night 1 (day 11 of the total tournament) kicked off with Carson playing Reno American and Reno National playing Centennial. Reno American and Centennial both picked up first round wins and will play again Tuesday night against North Tahoe and Truckee respectively…
Here’s the Photo of the Day for Day 11 of the tournament and Day 1 of the Juniors… Was he safe or out? 🙂
2015 Nevada District 1 Little League All Star Tournament, Day 10, Champions Crowned!
Congratulations to the 11 year old Reno National team and the 12 year old Washoe Team on your Nevada District 1 Little League Championships!!!
Two very good games! And this was the first year in all 9 of my years of doing these tournaments that I got to shoot the 12 year old championship game without the consolation championship also being played… 🙂
Here’s the 11’s Reno National Team! Congrats Fellas!
And the 12’s Washoe Team! Congrats Fellas!!
And I can’t resist this shot… I’ve gone with two “jube” photos already and am going to end the first leg of the tournament with one last one… This is the same pitcher that I had for photo of the day earlier for his intensity… and face…
