The first day is in the books! I have to go with a double Photo of the Day and it goes to the poof of dirt off the catcher’s glove! 🙂
There are some things I always try to get every year, some are harder than others so the quest will always continue… this is one of those things (along with bat on ball, close plays at 2nd and 3rd, etc., etc….) so stay tuned!
Sorry, got a little behind with Photo of the Day… Friday night’s 7:30 game brought me my photo of the day… This is my 11th year shooting all star tournaments, so I’ve seen a lot of things out here. I wanted to give this fella a shout out for his performance on Friday night.
When you walk up to a field with the 12’s you see a full range of sizes, some kids have hit that growth spurt and others haven’t… but baseball is a sport that doesn’t require a particular physique… at the beginning of the game, you can always kinda hear the hushed chatter of the kids making “impressions” of the pitchers that are warming up… these days a lot of these kids are playing each other in travel ball tournaments so sometimes they know each other…
So… I wanted to give a shout out to Mr. Davis. He’s not 6 foot, 220 lbs. but at the end of the game, he was STILL on the mound for Reno American with the win. Bravo for doing your job!
Have to go with this one tonight for Photo of the Day… I wasn’t on the ball enough to actually get the play he made but a huge ball of dirt swallowed him… but he made the play and kept the ball in the infield! 🙂
Day 7 down… If you were out at the park tonight you witnessed a great game between the Reno National 12’s and the Reno American 12’s… great game! Should be a teaser for what’s still to come in the tournament!
We’re back in action after the 4th of July day off… The tournaments are winding down, teams are going home… the play is certainly heating up! Close action, close games, hard play, this is where it starts to get interesting!
Day 5 in the books, day off tomorrow! Whew! We’re tired!
Today started the “going home” stage of the tournaments… that ramps up the “urgency” for me in getting photos, it’s been a busy weekend with long hours! We get a break for the 4th of July Holiday tomorrow and back at it Tuesday evening.
