Carson Douglas Softball today… @ Douglas High

Just a quick post with some photos… super busy right now trying to process all the league photos… so no game update other than a quick comment… it was a good stats day for Carson… runs, home runs, etc…  Carson Douglas Baseball is also later this week… Thursday @ Douglas (3:45) and Friday @ Carson under the lights (7:00).  Hope to see you out there!

Click on the images below for a larger version… found some cool angles to shoot the pitchers… (softball rules and the little media box on the field are ridiculous….)

I think this is my favorite shot of the day…

… add in a little slap action… (I first learned about this back in college dating a softball player (she was a ridiculously quick slapper…)… having NEVER been to a softball game before to experience this for the first time… it was quite an lesson… oh the things college exposes you to…) :)  I still think this is one of the most clever things in sports… done well and with control… you’re at least 1/2 way to first before they get to the ball… love it!

Round it out with Carson’s Senior Pitcher, who pitched every inning for Carson today…

CHS Varsity Softball and JV Baseball today…

Carson Softball hosted Wooster today… I got a lot of batting photos… The Senators went through the batting order in the first inning… I speculated that the game was going to go this way so I tried to maximize the day… :)

Two quick innings of fielding (as in not really any photos other than the obvious of the pitcher and catcher (shout out to Malia… who was brought up from the JV today due to a varsity injury…)…

Here are two batting shots of the girls…

Then I went over to the JV Baseball game… they hosted Reed (the Varsity was away at Reed and won!!)

Here are a few from the JV Baseball game…

A base is a base… :) you can almost feel this one!

This fella stepped up to the plate twice while I was at the game… two hits up the middle… look at that bat flex…!

And Nevin behind the dish… I’ve been photographing Nevin catching for a few years… Here he is back in 2008 in an All Star Tournament…

And here he is today…

This is what a lot of this is about for me… of course I need to make a living doing this… but creating memories of these times, that’s a big part of what I’m trying to do.  I’m glad I can be here to do this! :)

Carson High Baseball… vs. Reed High

School’s back in session now so the season’s started back up after a short break… Today Carson hosted Reed High, they play Thursday up at Reed…  In today’s game, Carson tied the game but couldn’t hold on in the 7th and Reed pulled out a 3-1 win…

Here are some images from today’s game… Still playing with some different things… :)

Carson High Softball vs. Spanish Springs… Two big wins for the Senators!

Carson High Softball hosted Spanish Springs and handed the Cougars their first two losses of the season! The first game ended 6-3 and the second 5-4.  Here are some shots from the games… more at the Carson High Athletics link in the side menu.

Carson High Baseball… vs. Reno High

Hands down, the worst miserable nasty weather today… at least for shooting baseball!  Come on Mother Nature… give the “breeze” a break!

Not a great day for Carson High Baseball… I decided to try some new stuff today, play around with a longer lens, shoot a little tighter, just mess around… boy do I wish the weather had been ANY bit nicer… I’m still cold and I left the park nearly three hours ago…

So here’s some stuff from the game… I just had to shoot the catcher for Reno, I’m a sucker for color and not much looks better than red, white and blue…

… back to the Carson fellas… like I mentioned, tried some tighter shooting… just messing around… there are now 504 images of the Varsity team on the site for 2012… I’m always anxious for feedback.  :)

Had to have a little “conference” on the mound… defense wasn’t Carson’s strong point today…

Dion Squared…

Tyler in the game in the later innings…

… some pinch hitters in the bottom of the 7th… made a rally… but Reno had built a pretty sizable lead by then…
