Carson Douglas Girl’s Soccer…

Two close rivalries tonight… the JV game ended in a 0-0 tie and the Douglas Girls went home with a 2-0 win… The varsity game was a fantastic battle!  The referee kept a REALLY tight control over the game, it was one of the best officiating I’ve seen in a LONG time!  He even gave out a card for a dive!  🙂

The boys meet tomorrow, JV @ 5 and Varsity @ 7.

Here are two shots from tonight’s action.  Check your team’s page on the side for more game action.

Next year… I’m going to miss watching this gal play, such intensity, such focus, watching her play proves to me that there really are kids out there that still have the drive to compete and play hard.

Carson Douglas Varsity Football…

WOW, what a night!

I did a Google search to find some words to describe the night “to take advantage of an opportunity” is what I “Googled”…

BENEFIT – to get help or an advantage from something

GET – to obtain a benefit or have a positive feeling when you do something

GAIN – to get a benefit or advantage for yourself

EXPLOIT – to use a situation so that you get benefit from it

GRASP – to take advantage of an opportunity when it happens

You take your pick, at any one point in this game these words hit the nail on the head…

Here are some image to show the night… (see my blurb at the bottom of this post about MY night…)

Douglas started off with a big opening pass play… I got the shot but it’s blurry… this is a case of the play’s going… whoa… it’s going there… pan and click, hope, nope! Sometimes you get it, sometimes you get it close, sometimes you don’t… well… this started my night…

Here’s one of several runs by Sophomore Joey Thurman… I love it when the Carson kids chant, He’s a Sophomore, He’s a Sophomore… makes me chuckle.

Then Carson took to the air with Brock Pradere… this catch… remember the whoa it’s going there… point, click, hope… nope… well… no joke, on the spot I thought to myself that I’d mess with some color plugins I just got with this shot… switching to the “artistic” mode of photography on the fly… the elements are there, I know who it is, I have the ball… let me know what you think about the effect!

Douglas’ “big” back, he can pound out some yards!

Then Carson went to the air again… I see a pattern developing here… “whoa, pan, click, hope…”  ehh… on this one… the ball in the hands is in the gallery… I liked this one better…

… and the celebration… this impressed me.  “Why” you ask, it’s just teammates celebrating… it’s WHO that impressed me.  This was a long option pass from Austin Pacheco to a wide open Brock Pradere… but this is the QB, Matt Nolan down to the end zone first to celebrate with Brock… Well done Matt…

… but Douglas wasn’t finished… Michael Nolting driving towards the end zone… sometimes you can get a cool effect, albeit unintentional, because of the low light conditions at a High School sports field…

… and Carson back driving the ball too… I like the feet off the ground!

… and the final kick… well done Austin!  But just to further ruin my night of frustration… I can’t even tell you what the camera was focusing on!  Very frustrating…

… but I kept shooting and came up with this at the end, something that I like a lot from the evening… Great game fellas, both teams, that game defined rivalry athletics.  Goods, bads, uglys, luck, excitement, drama, ups, downs, all in one package deal!

I do have to make one caveat about MY experience… and I wasn’t alone, two of the TV folks and I were talking, they were struggling as well… and pardon my abruptness here… but I flat out sucked tonight!  I had trouble with focusing and low light with the dark pants and jerseys of the Carson team (makes for too low of shutter speed to capture sharp action)… that’s not to say that everything was out of whack… just not my best night of shooting…

Carson Douglas Freshman & JV Football…

Rivals… I’m sure books could be written about historic rivals of all ages… As we all know, the Carson Douglas Rivalry is one of those for the ages.  Tonight the Douglas High Freshman team tore up the Carson High Freshman teams and then the Carson High JV team tore up the Douglas JV team… the best of three is at a tie going into the all important Varsity game tonight at Carson High… No matter what, there will be A LOT said about tonight’s game, so many expectations, so much “rivalry”.

This game should have the best “game atmosphere” available in Northern Nevada tonight.

Here are some images from the Freshman and JV games played Thursday.

The Douglas Freshman…

… and the Carson JV…

You can talk all you want about rivalry… this photo nails it…!

Carson High Girl’s Soccer tonight vs. Damonte Ranch…

Mother Nature has made an abrupt entrance… BRRRRRRR!  The wind was relentless tonight… as usual around these parts…

The weather aside, the Carson High Girl’s Soccer teams both took wins away from Damonte Ranch tonight.  Here are some shot from tonight… Check out the Carson High Athletics link on the side for the rest of tonight’s game action.

Welcome back Kianha!

Carson High vs. Bishop Manogue High Varsity Football…

A day of football today!!  First off was the Varsity match up of Carson High @ Bishop Manogue High.  BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL day today!  You could argue that the wind was a bit annoying but it kept the temps down… and what a great day for the Manogue Homecoming… Unfortunately for Manogue, Carson walked away with a 27-24 win… and in thrilling fashion… with 33 seconds to go Carson kicked a 64 yard field goal to win it…  This game had it all, neither team could capitalize on the other’s mistakes to gain any kind of advantage… A lot of grinding it out on the ground, I’d say Carson won the “air” battle… just barely connecting a few times with Brock Pradere for some good gains… Here is some action from the day… see more at the individual links on the side under Current Events.  See you out at the fields soon!

Some runners first… Manogue’s big strong #5 got the lion’s share of the “pound it out” yardage today….

And Carson’s #32… does he need an introduction?  Dylan saw a lot of carries today….

The Veteran QB for Manogue…

… and the Junior QB for Carson…

Carson High vs. Bishop Manogue High… Freshman and JV Football

Carson High walked away with two wins tonight at Bishop Manogue High.  Both games were close into the last quarter but Carson pulled away in each game with a few key plays that made the game for the Senators.

See our game action shots by choosing your team in the menu on the side.  I’ll be out Saturday for the Varsity match up.  See you out at the field!

Just a single Freshman photo in keeping with my “standard” for the Freshman… Here Colby’s returning a kickoff for 6 on the scoreboard!

… and some game action from the Jr Varsity game…

Carson High Boy’s Soccer vs. McQueen

Carson High scored A LOT of goals against McQueen in the last two nights… The boy’s JV and Varsity each walked away with shutout wins tonight… they were both just much stronger teams than the McQueen teams.  Here are some shot from tonight’s action.  See the rest at the Carson High Athletics link on the side.

First some JV action… the ball AND the man are “flying”…

… and onto the Varsity action…

Despite this fella’s efforts… the Carson team walked away with a shutout and a win!  This McQueen kid is fun to watch!  Super quick… but not much of an issue tonight for Carson.

The final goal of the match… Sam pushes one the opposite direction of the goal keeper…

Carson High Girl’s Soccer vs. McQueen…

The Carson High Girl’s Soccer teams took away a win each for the Varsity and Jr. Varsity against McQueen… both Carson teams walking away with pretty convincing wins.  Here is some action from the games… check out much more on the CHS pages, click on Carson High Athletics on the side.  See you out at the fields again soon!

A special shout out to Carly… It really helps when you have a tougher opponent… particularly when you play in the goal! 🙂

Some “classic” soccer contact… the girl’s playing hard in the midfield.

And under the lights with the Varsity…

Carson High Football… @CHS vs. North Valleys

Two lopsided games tonight at Carson High… both Carson teams coming away with big wins… and shutouts… and the varsity, despite giving up a lot of yards, pulled out a shutout… Here’s some game action, more from tonight as well as last night’s Freshman game are under Current Events to the side or Leagues & Events.

See you out at the fields again soon!
